Sportingbet offers sports betting, casino and poker. According to the platform footer, the contracting party is ElectraWorks Europe Limited, with its registered office at 120 The Strand, Gzira, Malta (company register number C92636). The operating company, the address and the MGA licence are identical to Gamebookers and Premium. Sportingbet was originally an independent brand and joined the Entain group during one of the corporate mergers.

For Austria, there is no nationwide licence under the Gambling Act for any of the segments.

What a reclaim with Sportingbet means

Casino and poker losses: Without an Austrian licence, the contract with ElectraWorks Europe Limited is void, and stakes are reclaimable for up to thirty years under the line of the OGH.

Betting losses: Sports betting is legal in Austria. A reclaim is only possible through partial legal incapacity under Section 865 Austrian Civil Code. It is generally economically viable from around 50,000 euros in losses.

The litigation route in Austria runs at your place of residence as a consumer. Similar proceedings against ElectraWorks brands are ongoing before Austrian courts, and we know the group’s defence strategies.

How we proceed
