In the German-speaking region, Mr Bet is advertised with casino games and a live casino, alongside sports betting and poker on a smaller scale. The contracting party is Faro Entertainment N.V., based in Curacao. The platform holds a Curacao licence.

For Austria, there is no nationwide licence under the Gambling Act.

What a reclaim at Mr Bet means

Online casino offers require a licence in Austria. Under the established line of the Austrian Supreme Court (OGH), a Curacao licence does not replace this licence. The contract with Faro Entertainment N.V. is void, and stakes can be reclaimed for up to thirty years.

A claim against a Curacao company is more demanding in the proceedings than against a Maltese company, but Austrian courts have jurisdiction under EU consumer law. In each individual case, we examine whether Faro Entertainment N.V. is solvent and whether a judgment is also enforceable there.
